The Warriors opened play in the Harley Steel Memorial Tournament with a solid 6-4 victory over Prairie Hawks Black.
Unlike their prior meeting May 2, when the Warriors committed 11 errors in a 9-3 loss, the Warriors backed strong pitching with solid defense and timely hitting to take down their west-side rivals.
After Michael Daughtery reached on a dropped third strike, Zach Zingula drove him home with a single to right field. Zingula scored on a passed ball as the Warriors took a 2-0 lead after one inning. The Warriors scored two more in the second on a fielder's choice by Patrick Karamitros and a single up the middle by Jordy Brown.
Starting pitcher Robert Hogg earned his fourth win of the year, allowing three third inning runs. Max Versteegh got the save, allowing just one run in three innings of relief.
Will Tueble scored twice for the Warriors and Zingula had two RBIs.
The Warriors are scheduled to face the Quad Cities Lightning at 2:15 p.m.
