The Warriors scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings Wednesday night to rally past the Cedar Rapids Angels for a 7-6 victory at McKinley Field.
Zach Zingula had the game-winning hit, a bloop single to shallow left field that scored Dalton Weems and Jordy Brown.
Mitch Blades drove in Michael Daughtery and Zingula in the sixth inning to draw the Warriors within two runs. After Robert Hogg sent the Angels three-and-out for the second straight inning, it was up to the Warriors to come up with some seventh-inning heroics.
Will Teuble led off with a walk and advanced to second on Ryan Niemeyer's grounder. Weems struck out swinging for the second out. Patrick Karamitros walked and was replaced by Weems as a pinch runner. Brown was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Daughtery was hit by a pitch to score Teuble and the Warriors trailed by one. Zingula's second hit of the game put the Warriors ahead.
Hogg earned his fifth win of the year, allowing one run in three innings of relief. Zingula started on the mound and allowed two earned runs in four innings of work. He helped his cause at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and three RBIs.
The win evens the Warriors' record at 9-9 at the midway point of the regular season. Next up is the first road trip of the year, a Saturday double-header in Vinton.
